“Running in the Pietro Mennea Golden Gala is always a source of pride, being a testimonial for the sustainability of the event gives a broader meaning to my participation.” Rome awaits Nadia Battocletti with open arms. The Olympic silver medalist in the 10,000 meters, four-time European champion, will not only be on the track on June 6 at the Olympic Stadium (in the 5,000), but will also be a spokesperson, especially among the younger generation, for the key message of the international campaign “Athletics for a Better World” to which the Golden Gala has also joined in this edition, to build a sustainability-oriented culture.

“The world of athletics is committed to ensuring that its events are fully aligned with the principles of sustainability – Nadia’s words – The Pietro Mennea Golden Gala, through its ‘Towards Sustainable Development’ strategy, wants to make its own contribution to the growing environmental, economic and social challenges facing the world today.” Hence the appeal of the blue star, among the iconic faces of our athletics: “Run alongside me the race for sustainability, together we can make a difference!”

The primary goal is to consolidate the path toward sustainability of the Golden Gala initiated in 2024 and promoted by World Athletics. Among the strategic goals is the ambition to make the Golden Gala a ‘best practice’ on the concrete application of sustainability issues in major sporting events, measuring in a timely and detailed manner the environmental impact of the event and taking measures to reduce its negative impact. To do so, all stakeholders involved in the Golden Gala are made aware of the adoption of sustainable behaviors and practices.
