Internazionali d'Italia women: Qinwen Zheng eliminates Aryna Sabalenka

On the red clay of the Foro Italico in Rome, the Chinese player, world number 8, eliminated Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, queen of world tennis, in the last quarterfinal with a score of 6-4 6-3.

In today’s first quarterfinal, however, the U.S. Gauff, No. 3, defeated the young Russian Mirra Andreeva, No. 7, with a score of 6-4 7-6.

Tomorrow the first semifinal will be played at 3 p.m. by Jasmine Paolini, world number 5, and U.S. Peyton Stearns, number 42.

A golden opportunity for the 29-year-old from Tuscany to earn a final that in any case, should she win tomorrow, would be very challenging with the winner of Zheng-Gauff.
