In Rome on Sunday afternoon, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will face each other for the 11th time. The Spaniard holds a 6-4 advantage. On clay, however, the balance is tied: 1-1.
Sinner won the first confrontation on clay in 2022, in the final in Umag, coming back after losing the first set on tiebreak (6-7, 6-1, 6-1). Alcaraz evened the score in the semifinals of the last Roland Garros, imposing himself in the fifth set (2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3).
The Spanish outfielder arrives with the momentum of his last three consecutive match wins: in addition to Paris, he also beat Sinner in a comeback in Indian Wells (semifinal) and in the China Open final in Beijing. The latter, dated October 2, 2024, was also Jannik’s last defeat before his impressive streak of 26 straight wins.
