Ioannis Kastritis dreams of taking Openjobmetis Varese back to the top

Ioannis Kastritis told Corriere della Sera about the beginning of his adventure in Varese: “The idea was to get back into the game in the summer, but when the offer from Openjobmetis came, I immediately said yes: I knew the history of Varese, its passion, its desire to return to certain levels. Everyone here has a clear vision: I wanted to be part of the process. And I wanted the Italian A series”.
“I grew up in the generation of Diamantidis, of Papaloukas, of Sloukas, a great generation. But I don’t look at individuals, because for me a team is born out of collective chemistry and harmony. Being a coach is a way to express a character, contributing to help other people, starting with those who play.”
“I didn’t have a lot of time to figure out what was wrong, however, I never doubted that I could make it or I wouldn’t have come. It needed extra effort, it needed to break down the negative flow of defeats. If you build a winning system, then even miracles can happen. But to the winning system you come step by step, involving everyone: I am here to put my brick”.
“Do we want to find the playoffs again? That would be important, but first we need to turn the mentality around and be ready to fight anyone. Then I want a team that will make the fans proud, I want players-warriors.”
