Jannik Sinner was applauded by most insiders and fans for his performance at the Rome tournament, the first since his return to the court following his disqualification for the Clostebol case. But not everyone agrees: Paul McNamee, Australia&#8217s former number one doubles tennis player, harshly criticized the Blue for his performance in the final at the Foro Italico against Carlos Alcaraz.

Sinner missed two set points in the first set, which he then lost in the tie-break, and succumbed sharply in the second against his Iberian rival, who was definitely more comfortable on clay. On X McNamee blurted out, saying the difference between the two was the same as between the master and the’student.

“The match between Alcaraz and Sinner showed the stark difference involved in clay…the Chess Master vs. the Apprentice. The second set was full of speed changes and height variations, gliding art, lots of shots into corners and short balls…”.

“A Master’s lesson, to which Sinner may not have an answer, at least on clay”. Sinner can take immediate revenge on Alcaraz at Roland Garros, starting in a few days.
