Roland Garros qualifiers: Matteo Gigante flies to the main draw

Matteo Gigante hits the Roland Garros main draw for the first time in his career. On the penultimate day of qualifying, the Roman tennis player beat Norway&#8217s Elmer Moller, world number 108, in two sets (6-3 7-6), qualifying for the main draw.

After a first set decided by a break in the’eighth game, the Italian went ahead three times by a break in the second set, but on all three occasions Moller took it back. It took the tie-break to close the file in which Gigante won 7-5.

Julio Zeppieri also won, qualifying for the decisive round where he will face Argentina’s Federico Agustin Gomez, world number 142: the Roman had an easy time with U.S. Eliot Spizzirri, world number 116, defeated with a final score of 6-3 6-2.

In the last round of qualifiers Federico Arnaboldi will also be engaged, facing German Maximilian Marterer, number 237 in the ATP rankings.
