Anna Kalinskaya, bitter evening in Paris

For the third time in her career, out of four appearances in the women’s main draw, Anna Kalinskaya said goodbye to Roland Garros in the first round. In fact, the Russian tennis player, No. 28 in the world rankings and No. 30 in the seeding in Paris, was defeated 6-4, 7-5 by Czech Marie Bouzkova after an hour and three quarters of play.
The match, basically, is balanced from the start but Bouzkova manages to emerge in the key moments, such as the tenth game of the first set, the only one that registers a break and rewards precisely the Czech athlete, and the beginning of the second set, with Kalinskaya going down 0-3 and 3-5 and, although she managed to recover twice, losing precious energy for the final, which smiles on the number 47 WTA.
The Paris tournament of Anna Kalinskaya, who was also aiming to take revenge with fate, after the withdrawal in Strasbourg that had ousted her despite herself from the quarterfinals against Danielle Collins, after beating Caroline Dolehide and, above all, the number 3 ranking Jessica Pegula, thus ends sadly.
The Moscow tennis player thus failed in her goal of at least confirming qualification for the second round, which would have allowed her to retain ranking points at the next update. Instead, Kalinskaya will lose 60 points, dropping from the current 1717 to 1657, a score that will be officially confirmed at the Monday, June 2 update.
