Cristiano Ronaldo’s farewell to Al-Nassr, made official in recent days, has not come at a random time: in just over two weeks, the first edition of the revamped Club World Cup will kick off in the United States, and CR7, according to ‘Marca’ reports, is reportedly reasoning about participating in the rainbow tournament, to launch a’final challenge to his eternal rival Leo Messi, who is attending the World Cup with Inter Miami’Inter Miami, the club designated by FIFA as the representative of the federation hosting the event.

For the Spanish sports daily, Cristiano Ronaldo is considering several solutions: first and foremost that of Botafogo, a Brazilian club that will participate in the World Cup, whose coach Renato Paiva, Portuguese like CR7, openly declared: “You cannot say ‘no’ to a star of his caliber, Ronaldo is a goal machine”. Palmeiras (placed in the same group as Messi’s Inter Miami) also reportedly expressed interest while Flamengo, which admitted it was looking for reinforcements, explained at the same time that it did not want someone only interested in playing in the rainbow tournament.

Two other clubs that have reportedly come forward are Wydad Casablanca, which will represent Morocco and is included in Juventus&#8217s group, and Monterrey, which instead plays in the Mexican league and will face, in the group stage, the other Italian present in the U.S., Inter Milan. It is precisely at Monterrey that he would find two of his former teammates at Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos and Sergio Canales.

It is not ruled out, however, that CR7 could stay in Saudi Arabia, the country that has welcomed him as the sporting and media point of reference of the Saudi Professional League in January 2023: in fact, at the World Club Championship there will be the Al-Hilal, included in the group of Real Madrid. The’idea is that the Saudi club can include Ronaldo in its roster and thus play all available chances to reach at least the knockout stage.
