Elisabetta Cocciaretto’s path to Roland Garros stopped in the second round. The Marche-based tennis player, number 89 in the world, surrendered in two sets to Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, number 20 in the WTA ranking and seeding, who won with a final score of 6-1 6-3 after one’hour and twelve minutes of play.

The first set was a domination of Alexandrova, who took away Cocciaretto’s serve to zero already in the second game, before confirming the break (3-0). The blue player managed to move the score (1-3) before suffering another partial break of three consecutive games by the Russian (1-6).

The first set is more balanced.

More balance in the second set, but after an exchange of breaks in the fifth and sixth games it was again a 3-0 partial by Alexandrova that knocked out Cocciaretto, who thus says goodbye to the Paris Slam.

In the women’s draw, only Jasmine Paolini thus remains among the Italian players: the world number 4 has qualified for the third round where she will face Ukraine’s Yuliia Starodubtseva, number 81 in the WTA ranking.
