Inter, Beppe Marotta gets straight to the point: clear words on Simone Inzaghi

Decidedly dark in the face on the sidelines of a sports nightmare evening, Beppe Marotta took to the microphones of ‘Sky Sport‘ to comment on Inter’s 0-5 loss at the hands of a PSG side that, in Munich, was thus able to celebrate its first success in the top continental competition, its third in Europe after the Cup Winners Cup in 1996 and the success in the Intertototo in 2001.
“We were outclassed in everything, it was a bad night – said the Nerazzurri CEO, without hiding his disappointment -. We are sorry for how it went and there are no excuses for the defeat, but it is not a lost game that affects the balance of a season that we experienced as protagonists on all fronts”.
The season is not actually over yet, as the World Cup for Clubs will begin in two weeks, but the Nerazzurri club could reason about a change in the bench: in this sense, Marotta said that “the evaluation on Inzaghi does not change at all, we will meet next week: there’s still a year of contract that binds us, he is a capable coach and it is certainly not a bad night to make me change my mind”.
One of the aspects that struck the insiders the most was the presence, in the starting eleven fielded by Luis Enrique, of as many as five players who have played in Serie A: “We are no longer paradise, the Italian league is a passageway for many players– admitted Marotta. PSG has an unlimited budget, but that must not be an alibi for us: we have the right coaches and players to be always protagonists anyway”.
