When does Jasmine Paolini play at Roland Garros: background with Elina Svitolina

Jasmine Paolini is continuing her adventure at Roland Garros and in general on clay: she won the Internazionali d’Italia at the Foro Italico in Rome and landed in the round of 16 in Paris where she has to defend last year’s final by winning the first three matches, reaching nine consecutive matches on red.

In the first three rounds she defeated, always in two sets, two Australians, first Maya Joint and then Ajla Tomljanovic, then Ukraine’s Yuliia Starodubtseva. Now the 29-year-old from Bagni di Lucca, Tuscany, will face another Ukrainian, Elina Svitolina, former world No. 3, currently No. 14 and a two-time winner at the Foro Italico in 2017 and 2018; at Roland Garros, on the other hand, she reached the quarterfinals four times.

There is only one precedent between the two tennis players and it is from this year: at the Australian Open on Melbourne’s concrete last January, in a third-round match, it was Svitolina who won with a score of 2-6 6-4 6-0.
