Maurizio Sarri returns to Lazio: it’s now official

The news had been in the air for a few days and now it is official: Maurizio Sarri has returned to Lazio. The seasoned coach had led the biancoceleste team from July 2021 to March 2024, then left the club’s bench. Now, some 14 months later, he has returned to replace Marco Baroni.

“S.S. Lazio is pleased to announce the return of Maurizio Sarri to lead the first team. After the experience that began in 2021, the Tuscan coach returns to wear the biancocelesti colors, recalled by a bond never broken with the environment, the fans and a team that, under his leadership, has been able to express ideas, play and belonging” reads the official note.

“The club confidently entrusts Sarri with the technical helm of the project, with the conviction that his style, consistency and work culture represent solid foundations to build an ambitious present and a future to match Lazio”s history.

Claudio Lotito commented on Sarri&#8220s return this way: “Maurizio Sarri is back home. His return is a choice of heart, conviction and vision. With him we want to resume a path interrupted too soon, knowing that together we can bring back enthusiasm, identity and ambition. Welcome back to your home Commander”.
