The four women’s singles matches played on Monday, June 2, outlined the Roland Garros quarterfinal picture: still in the running is defending champion Iga Swiatek, who beat Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina on Sunday, not without difficulty, but the real surprise on the scoreboard is a home athlete, 22-year-old Lois Boisson.

Number 361 in the WTA rankings (she was also 152nd last year, after her success in the WTA 125 in Saint-Malo), Boisson is participating in Roland Garros 2025 thanks to a wild card: an invitation she is making the most of, having beaten in a row Elise Mertens, Anhelina Kalinina, Elsa Jacquemot and, in the round of 16, world No. 3 Jessica Pegula, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Lois Boisson’s next opponent will be Mirra Andreeva: the winner will face in the semifinals whoever emerges between Madison Keys and Coco Gauff. On the other side of the scoreboard, the first quarterfinal will see Aryna Sabalenka face Zheng Qinwen, while Iga Swiatek will face Elena Svitolina, Jasmine Paolini’s executioner in the round of 16.

All four competitions will be played on Tuesday, June 3, starting at 11 a.m. Compared to last year’s edition, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Mirra Andreeva and Aryna Sabalenka confirm a place among the tournament&#8217s top eight. On the other hand, in addition to Jasmine Paolini (finalist in 2024) and Elena Rybakina, Marketa Vondrousova (out in the third round) and Ons Jabeur (ko already in the first round) are not there either.
