Roland Garros: Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek win and compete in semifinals

Everything went as predicted at the women’s Roland Garros: Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek overcame their respective opponents in the quarterfinals and will compete Thursday in the semifinals for a place in the final act of the French Open.

World No. 1 Belarusian got the better of China’s Qinwen Zheng in two sets, with scores of 7-6, 6-3. Maximum balance in the first partial until the tie-break, in the second the Tiger from Minsk bent the resistance of the Chinese and took revenge after the defeat in Rome.

Iga Swiatek, a four-time winner of the Paris tournament, instead won 6-1, 7-5 against Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina, who had beaten our Jasmine Paolini in recent days.

On Wednesday, the other two women’s quarterfinals are scheduled between Andreeva and Boisson and between Keys and Gauff.
