Edmonton and Florida find themselves in the finals again after last season’s great series (winning, in Game 7, by the Panthers). This time the Oilers got the series off to the best possible start, winning the first act on a comeback. the Panthers, in fact, were ahead 3-1 before suffering a comeback by the hosts. For Draisaitl it was the third goal in a playoff overtime. He has thus equaled the NHL record for the most goals in a single postseason, joining Hill (1939), Richard (1951), his Oilers teammate Perry (2017) and Florida’s Tkachuk (2023).

“I think the way we approached the game and the way we kept playing despite being down by two goals showed a lot of character on our part” the words of goalie Skinner reported by ESPN. Game 2, also in Edmonton, is scheduled for Friday night and Saturday night. The Oilers are on a mission: avenge last season’s defeat and win the Stanley Cup.
