The happy, almost disbelieving face of Jannik Sinner, for the first time in his career in the final at Roland Garros 2025, mirrors another legendary evening for the South Tyrolean, who overcame Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, without conceding a single set to the Serb, although the latter fought until the end of each fraction of play.

Interviewed by ’former ATP No. 2 Alex Corretja for the international version of ‘Eurosport‘, Sinner first paid tribute to Friday night&#8217s opponent: “I have to say thank you to the crowd who supported both me and Novak– he said -, the atmosphere was special and it was an&#8217incredible opportunity to face Djokovic here, which led me to have to play my best tennis to win”.

“Novak has proven once again that he is a great champion – added Sinner -He’s a role model for all of us tennis players, I can only wish him the best for the rest of the season. We are all lucky to see him still playing, his level is very high, and even tonight was not easy for me, but I knew it would be a great challenge”.

Now, however, there&#8217s to think about the final and the next opponent, that Carlos Alcaraz who, in fact, this year was the one to defeat Jannik Sinner, in the final of the Internazionali d’Italia in Rome: “It&#8217s my job to deal with every situation as best I can– explained the South Tyrolean -. The head-to-head against him didn&#8217t go well in the last period, but I am looking forward to Sunday. I am already happy to be in the final”.
