Another Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund: brother Jobe leaves Sunderland

Borussia Dortmund continues to focus on young talent, and this time it does so with a surname already well known to Yellow and Black fans: Bellingham. After the exciting experience with Jude, now a Real Madrid star, the German club secures the services of his younger brother, Jobe Bellingham. The 2005-born talent, fresh off a brilliant season with Sunderland, is set to follow in his older brother’s footsteps in the Bundesliga.
The agreement between Sunderland and Borussia Dortmund was reached on Sunday. The deal is for 33 million euros plus 5 million in bonuses, for a potential total of 38 million. This is the most expensive transfer in the English club’s history, surpassing even Jordan Pickford’s transfer to Everton in 2017, which yielded 28.5 million euros. In addition, a 15 percent percentage was agreed on the future resale of the young midfielder.
Jobe arrives in Germany at a crucial moment in his growth. After contributing to Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League through their playoff success against Sheffield United, his talents attracted the attention of numerous clubs. But it was Dortmund who placed the decisive paw.
Unlike his brother Jude, who moved to Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020 for a similar sum, Jobe makes the big leap with a year to spare. He thus confirms the great potential recognized to him by insiders.
