Cecilia Zandalasini returns to orange for two seasons

Famila Basket announced the return to Schio of Cecilia Zandalasini (2-season deal), the second market coup after the signing of coach LaPena. The blue wing returns to wear the orange jersey after experiences in Fenerbahce, Virtus Bologna and Galatasaray as well as commitments in the WNBA first with the Minnesota Lynx and now with the new Golden State Valkyries franchise (10 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 recovered balls her averages in 4 games played). Zandalasini had arrived in Schio as an 18-year-old in the 2014/15 season in the court of coach Mendéz and remained there until 2017/18 with Pierre Vincent winning 3 scudetti, 3 Coppe Italia and 4 Supercoppe Italiane.
“I am happy to return to Schio – her first words -. I am a different player, with more experience on the court but also as a person. Famila is a certainty in Italy and in Europe: I am thrilled to re-embrace a great project like this. I find many national teammates and a well-established group in which I think it will be easy to integrate. I already worked with coach LaPena at Fenerbahce and I have great esteem for him: I am happy to come back to work with him and all the staff. The fans have always been super close with the players. I’m sure the historical fans who have been following the team for as long as I can remember are left, and definitely also new fans who I look forward to meeting. I know they will cheer for us all year long and I hope we can take a lot of satisfaction together.”
General Manager De Angelis comments on the Zandalasini hit this way: “Cecilia has played in very good teams in Italy and abroad but from her words it is clear that she knows she is coming home. Famila is the club with which she has won the most and with which she has grown. With her there has never been a strictly professional relationship: having arrived in Schio just over the age of 18 made her share life experiences that have bonded us deeply. I found her very matured from the talk we had. Her talent and her ability to decide games cannot be questioned. I challenge anyone to say that they would not want Cecilia to return. So many teams would have liked to sign her but she chose us and we look forward to seeing her on the court in our jersey.”
