.

“There are lives that within themselves enclose a myriad of stories: there are lives that know how to face difficulties of all kinds, to start again each time stronger and renewed. Lives that, however, find pillars on which to lean and around which to build new experiences rich in meaning. Throughout his existence Cristian Eugen Chivu has gone through experiences and challenges of enormous magnitude, events that have shaped him as a man and a professional, binding him in an indissoluble way to the Nerazzurri colors, which as of today he returns to represent in his third Interist life, as coach of the First Team”.

“Born Oct. 26, 1980, in Reșița, a city of about 80,000 people in Romania, Chivu discovered early on the value of discipline in order to succeed in the world of soccer. A world he breathed in from childhood, following the example and passion of his father Mircea, a former soccer player and Cristian’s first coach in CSM Reșița’s youth academy. A long path, without any preferential treatment: the deep bond with his father makes the difference and teaches Chivu the values of sacrifice and ambition. Cristian starts as a forward, but also plays as a trequartista when needed: he has good technique, so much so that he made his first-team debut at age 17, playing in the stadium that now bears his father Mircea’s name. In 1998 he moved to Universitatea Craiova, then was noticed by an Ajax scout, where he moved in July 1999″.

“Cristian is by now a defender who can also play as a full-back, but in Holland his metamorphosis is complete: at Ajax he educates technical gestures and above all trains his brain, a real school of soccer for a boy on the verge of launching. In 2001 Chivu also becomes the youngest captain in the history of the Lancers: a sash that only a boy of great personality can wear. In Amsterdam Cristian won a league, a domestic cup and a Super Cup, then, after 142 appearances in four years, in 2003 he arrived in Italy, at Roma. The Romanian spent four seasons in the capital, winning one Coppa Italia, then the decisive turning point: in 2007 he arrived at Inter and his life changed forever”.

“In the seven years that Chivu played in an Inter shirt, there is one episode that tells of his relationship with the club and the fans, more than the successes, more than the trophies, more than the 169 appearances and 3 goals in the Nerazzurri. On March 24, 2010, 77 days after suffering that terrible skull fracture in Verona against Chievo, Chivu returned to the field, wearing a protective helmet. A day that represented a new beginning for Cristian, who a few months earlier had risked far more than his career. A beginning greeted with an ovation from the Nerazzurri fans at the defender’s first, harmless header: an emotion that is hard to explain for Cristian, who from that moment on will play for the rest of his career with his helmet on, taken off only to celebrate successes and trophies. In total he collected three Scudetti, two Italian Cups, two Italian Super Cups, a World Club Championship and the 2009/10 Champions League″.

“Pillar and captain of Romania, in the national team Chivu played 75 games, also participating in the 2000 and 2008 European Championships. In 2014 he ended his first Nerazzurri experience and hung up his boots, ending his playing career. Thus began a new chapter in Cristian’s Nerazzurri life, taking his first steps as a coach in Inter’s youth sector in 2018″.

“Chivu’s adventure began with the under-14s, then continued with the under-17s and 18s, until he reached the Primavera bench in the summer of 2021, an important and challenging bench for a man as ambitious as he is. In his first season he won a wonderful Scudetto, the tenth in the history of the Nerazzurri Primavera, then left Inter at the end of the 2023/24″ season.

“In February 2025 comes the opportunity to coach a First Team: Cristian is called by Parma to try to achieve a complicated salvation in Serie A 2024/25. Mission accomplished: in 13 games the Emilian team won 16 points and managed to earn their stay in the top division”.

“Now Cristian Chivu begins a new experience in the Nerazzurri, the third in his career: an experience that he will live as always guided by the values of dedication, spirit of sacrifice and hard work”.
