F1 calendar 2026: Madrid news present, no more Imola

The Formula 1 calendar for the 2026 season has been made official. As previously announced, there will be 24 races on the schedule with some important news. The first is bad news for Italian F1 fans. In the new calendar there is no GP dell’Emilia-Romagna in Imola.
Despite many efforts, Imola loses Formula 1. Instead of the GP dell’Emilia-Romagna, Fia and Formula 1 have decided to include Madrid as a new stage of the F1 World Championship (assuming the works finish in time for the various homologations). As a result, Spain, in 2026, will have two GPs (Barcelona and Madrid) while Italy is left with only Monza (it will be held on the weekend of September 4-6).
The three events on U.S. soil are confirmed (Miami, Las Vegas and Austin) while the Canadian GP is relocated: from mid-June to late May. It kicks off on March 8 with the Australian GP. The last GP, however, will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 6, 2026.
“We are looking forward to an unforgettable season, with a host of new rules for cars and engines powered by 100% sustainable fuels. We are excited to welcome Madrid and to see the entry of major automotive brands such as Audi, Cadillac and Ford on the Formula One grid″ the words of Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula One Group.
