Eurosport commentator Barbara Rossi ended up in the crosshairs of Jannik Sinner fans during and after the Roland Garros final against Carlos Alcaraz. The former tennis player, who has been narrating matches for Eurosport and Sky for years, has been harshly criticized on social media for her equidistant and restrained style: too much, according to several Sinner fans, who would like her to be more on the side of the Blue.

“Me too impartial? I don&#8217t watch the comments, I don–t care –are his words in an interview with Fanpage.it -If you have to do a commentary you have to be balanced, you don&#8217t have to be a fan. We exalted the points of the’one and the other, in the narrative you have to be balanced. Everyone sees it the way they want, but Caressa was also criticized for cheering for Italy’too. We commented on the first final that Sinner won in Australia and got emotional”.

“The commentator has to be balanced – continued Barbara Rossi -, otherwise you put a fan who comments on the game. This is the way I see it, then maybe others would have done it differently. We comment by analyzing the good things one does, the things one should do. I didn&#8217t even have a voice. I hoped Sinner would win, but I tried to be impartial and professional in reporting the match”.

Also arousing the anger of Sinner’s fans was the cheering of the French for Alcaraz: “The problem is that Alcaraz is liked by the French public, which likes spectacular shots. Remember Schiavone’s final? They cheer for spectacular shots in tennis. People who are not really tennis experts can’t understand Sinner’s strength, then they see those shots of Alcaraz and applaud him. However, she did not lose because she had the audience against her”.
