Japan-Indonesia 6-0

Not a fun night for Emil Audero. The Como-owned goalkeeper, who defends the posts of the Indonesian national team, collected the ball six times in the back of the net in the match played in Japan.

The Blue Samurai closed out their World Cup qualifying campaign in style, overwhelming the Patrick Kluivert-coached team 6-0 in Osaka. The Japanese quickly took control of the game thanks to goals from Daichi Kamada (Crystal Palace) and young Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo, who put the team up 2-0 in the first twenty minutes.

Kamada’s second goal, which came in the sixth minute of first-half stoppage time, virtually ended any hope for Indonesia. Scoring the fourth and fifth goals were Ryoya Morishita and Holstein Kiel striker Shuto Machino, the latter served by a splendid lob from Kubo. The last seal came in the 80th minute with Mao Hosoya.

The Japanese national team had already clinched a spot at the 2026 World Cup well in advance having secured the top spot in Group C back in March. Indonesia, on the other hand, secured access to the fourth round of the Asian qualifiers with a 1-0 victory over China last Saturday.
