At the same time as the other match in Group C of the European U21 Championships, the one between Portugal and France, Poland and Georgia will also take the field at 9 p.m. Wednesday for a challenge to be staged at the Stadion pod Dubnom in Zilina, Slovakia. For the Poles, who have never made it past the quarterfinals of the event, this will be their first participation after two missed qualifiers, while for Georgia, the 2025 event is their second participation overall, the first achieved through qualification (in 2023 they were in fact automatically qualified as the host country).

Guided by Adam Majewski, Poland boasts interesting prospects already on the major national team roster: among them striker Dominik Marczuk, midfielders Antoni Kozubal and Kacper Kozlowski and defender Patryk Peda, the latter in the Juve Stabia squad in the season just ended by the Vespas in Serie B.

Two, on the other hand, are the “Italians” in the Georgian selection: they are Giorgi Kvernadze, a forward from Frosinone, and Saba Sazonov, a defender from Empoli who boasts 3 appearances with the senior national team. The two should start as starters as early as this first match, barring any last-minute surprises from coach Ramaz Svanadze.
