Viktor Gyokeres, Sporting Lisbon freezes out Juventus

Sporting Lisbon is not giving up Viktor Gyokeres, a striker in Juventus’ sights. This was made clear by president Frederico Varandas, interviewed by the BBC about the future of his jewel.
“At the moment no offer has arrived for Gyokeres. But still I tell you that the 70 million that is being talked about in the last hours would not be enough. It is not true that I promised him that he would leave: with me these blackmails do not work, and with this maneuver by the’agent the situation will only get worse”.
“One of the agent’s major concerns was whether we would ask for the termination clause. He wanted to guarantee certain things. What had been agreed upon? That Sporting would not ask for a termination clause now. For one reason: he would be 27 years old, and no player leaves Portugal at 27 for 100 or 90 million euros”.
“In that same meeting the’agent wanted to anchor the’exit to a value– he concluded -. I said this sentence: ‘It is not worth establishing a value because I do not know what will happen in a year. I do not know if it will be 40 million euros, 60 million euros or 80 million euros. What I can guarantee is that I will not ask for 100 million euros'”.
