Federico Buffa Talks – Antonio Conte

Sky Sport

The man called Scudetto, Antonio Conte, is the protagonist of the next episode of Federico Buffa Talks, an original production signed by Sky Sport, with Federico Buffa and director Federico Ferri. Give it all, ask for it all, the title of the book written by Conte with Mauro Berruto (ed. Mondadori) and the starting point of this new sports story, represents the essence of the role of the coach for Conte, the idea by which a winning team is shaped and inspired. It is also thanks to this philosophy that Antonio Conte has established himself today as one of the best coaches of his generation, capable of winning the Scudetto with three different teams – five in all: three with Juventus, one with Inter and the last with Napoli – after also winning in England, a title and an FA Cup with Chelsea.

Attend the first episode, starting tomorrow, Friday, June 13, at 9 p.m. on Sky Sport Uno, at midnight on Sky Sport Calcio, streaming on NOW and available on demand.

Becoming a living example of self-sacrifice, to be legitimized to ask, has deep roots, which are rooted in the upbringing received from mom Ada and dad Cosimino: “If you want something,” explains in fact Federico Buffa, paraphrasing Conte senior’s teaching, “first you have to give. It is a very strong imprinting, which you will carry with you forever and which will push you to be demanding first with yourself and then with others.”

Once his playing career was over, Conte devoted himself to his coaching career, hoping to sit on the bench of a great team in a few years. Which happened in May 2011, when Andrea Agnelli hired him as Juventus coach. Conte tells of a very long talk with the Juventus president, during which the coach perceived that he had no chance, at that moment, of being chosen for the future of the Bianconeri club. Instead, the outcome of that talk will be different and unexpected, and thus will begin a path studded with success.

In the two episodes airing June 13 and June 20, the Napoli coach traces his career through reflections, anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories, up to the last, extraordinary year culminating with the Scudetto, a tale that highlights the values and mentality, the determination and ferocity with which he pursues his goals.

The first thing Antonio Conte would ask anyone who wants to be a coach is what he is willing to lose. For him, victories are the only possible analgesic against the pain inflicted by defeats. And the reason is that winning is the only thing that gives meaning to all the sacrifices and renunciations a footballer, or a coach, makes to realize their dreams.

Lots of space also for current events: in the interview, Conte reveals how the end of the season really went and his conversation with President De Laurentiis, talks about Napoli and also Juventus, with revelations that rewrite the coach’s recent history.
