Playout Serie B: Sampdoria gets the first round with Salernitana

The first leg match of the Serie B playout with Salernitana goes to Sampdoria. At the ‘Ferraris’, in fact, the blucerchiati knock out the granata: 2-0 signed by Meulensteen, who scored at the end of the first half, and Curto, in goal a few minutes before the end of the match.
The hosts got off to a better start, making themselves dangerous in the 7th minute with a shot from the edge by Sibilli just wide. Five minutes later it is again the Blucerchiato striker who scares Christensen with a left-footed shot from inside the area that goes just wide. In the 25th minute, it is the Garnet goalkeeper who saves on Sibilli himself with a prodigious intervention. Late in the first half, however, Doria took the lead with Meulensteen turning a header into the net on an assist from Ferrari.
In the resumption, another tasty chance for Sibilli in the 64th minute, but the Samp’s center forward gobbled up the double by shooting sky high. Three minutes later the guests tried again with Hrustic but his free kick from the edge slammed into the barrier. With 4′ to go the Blucerchiati found the double with Curto, skillful in taking advantage of a rebound and depositing into the net from two steps. In the final one red for each side: sent off Borini for Sampdoria and Stojanovic for Salernitana.
The return match is scheduled for Friday, June 20, at 8:30 p.m. at the Arechi in Salerno. Blucerchiati with two out of three results at their disposal to remain in Serie B, while the Granata will have to overturn the defeat of the’first leg to hope to save themselves.
