Official, Mario Fioretti new Derthona coach: two-year contract

Now it’s official. Mario Fioretti is the new head coach of Bertram Derthona Basket. This was confirmed by the Lions club itself in a statement on its website.
“Bertram Derthona Basket is pleased to announce the hiring of Mario Fioretti as head coach of the HCL team for the next two years, until June 2027” the note reads. Mario Fioretti, after no less than 22 years spent at’Olimpia Milano (between youth sector and assistant to coach Ettore Messina), is stepping into the game, for the first time in his career, as head coach and he does so in an important square like Tortona.
Hailed with beautiful words by the’Olimpia Milano, Mario Fioretti, 52, lands in Tortona “… for a new challenge to be lived with renewed enthusiasm and responsibility after so many successful seasons with the Milanese team” the welcome statement also reads.
The new coach, in addition to the many trophies won in Milan (including six scudetti), boasts an’experience, in his long career, in the United States (year 1999) on a college team and with a coach both iconic, Bobby Knight’s Indiana Hoosiers. He will immediately get to work to put together a top-notch roster that can do well in the upcoming competitive season.
