Achille Polonara in hospital, Danilo Gallinari’s message

The basketball world has rallied around Achille Polonara, who after winning his battle with cancer is now facing one with myeloid leukemia.

Many messages on social media from friends and colleagues, including one from Danilo Gallinari. The’former Olimpia Milano wing, now in Puerto Rico, where he is coming off a 39-point game, sent a message to his national teammate.

“You always put your heart into every challenge and this one will be no exception. You are not alone. We are with you, minute by minute. Together, we win this one too”, the words of the Rooster.

“Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna S.p.A. announces that over the past few weeks Achille Polonara underwent further specialized medical investigations following which a diagnosis of myeloid leukemia was made. Polonara is now hospitalized at the Sant’Orsola Malpighi Hospital in Bologna where he has already begun specific therapies. The entire Virtus Segafredo Bologna family is close to Achille and his loved ones and wishes the boy a speedy recovery. Come on Achi we are all with you, we are waiting for you!”, the note conveyed Monday by the bianconero club.
