Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori return to semifinals in Halle

Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori return to the semifinals at the Halle ATP 500, of which they are defending champions. The Italian pair, second seed, overcame in two sets (7-6 6-2) the U.S. duo of Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow after an hour and 23 minutes of play.
In the first set, it is the service game that dominates with both pairs not conceding a single break ball. It thus came down to the tie-break, won by the Azzurri 12-10 after nullifying no less than three set-points.
With the’inertia in their favor, Bolelli/Vavassori won the break in the opening game in the second set, then confirmed (2-0). Indeed, in the fifth game, the Italian duo repeated the break advantage (5-1) before closing on the 6-2 final.
In the penultimate act of the ‘Terra Wortmann Open’, Bolelli and Vavassori will face the Canadian pair of Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov.
