Great start for Jannik Sinner in the second round match of the Terra Wortmann Open, an ATP 500 tournament being held in Halle, Germany. Indeed, the South Tyrolean won the first game set with a comfortable 6-3, closing out the fraction after less than 30 minutes of what is the second match of the season on grass for the world No. 1.

Sinner made things clear right away, managing to take a break lead at the first useful opportunity and then sailing on to win the set, which ended with the score of 6-3 after some interesting flashes of play from Bublik, who tried to put pressure on Sinner in the final part.

Sinner and Bublik have faced each other five times in their careers, with four wins by the South Tyrolean and one by the Kazakh, who was victorious due to Sinner’s withdrawal just in Halle in the 2023 edition. The two recently crossed arms at Roland Garros, with Sinner victorious 6-1, 7-5, 6-0.

The Terra Wortmann Open in Halle boasts more than a century-long history: the first edition was held in 1993 with Frenchman Henri Leconte winning against Ukrainian Andrei Medvedev, while the tennis player with the most singles victories is Roger Federer, with ten wins between 2003 and 2019. The tournament holder is Jannik Sinner, who beat Hubert Hurkacz in two sets in 2024.
