Juventus thinks about West Ham’s Aguerd for defense

Juventus is moving on the market with the aim of strengthening the defensive department ahead of next season. After sounding out several leads, the new name on the list of the Bianconeri management is that of Nayef Aguerd, a Moroccan center-back owned by West Ham, who has just returned from a positive experience on loan at Real Sociedad. The profile of the class of ’96 really appeals to Igor Tudor, who wants to include in the squad a reliable defender, physical and skilled in the’setting.

The Turin club is assessing the feasibility of an operation that could take shape through an exchange with Daniele Rugani, a defender who has been a luxury reserve for Juventus for years, but who seems to have reached the end of his cycle in Turin. West Ham, for its part, has reportedly expressed interest in the Italian center-back, appreciating his international experience and tactical ductility.

Aguerd has a steadily rising career behind him: trained at FUS Rabat, he made the leap to Europe with Dijon, and then established himself at Rennes, where he established himself as one of the best defenders in Ligue 1. In 2022, the move to West Ham for about 35 million euros, a figure that made him the most expensive defender in the history of the French club. With the Real Sociedad shirt, in the season just ended he collected 21 appearances in La Liga for a total of 1 552 minutes, confirming himself as a solid and consistent element.
