It was a weekend of spectacular tennis, with two finals to remember on European lawns. In London, Carlos Alcaraz confirmed his dominance at the Queen’s Club by overcoming Jiri Lehecka in three sets, while in Halle the fairy tale of Alexander Bublik, who beat Daniil Medvedev and won the German title for the second time, was staged. Two different but equally significant successes, which tell of the moment of form of the two protagonists and project both towards Wimbledon with very high ambitions.

Carlos Alcaraz did it again. On the prestigious lawn of the Queen’s Club, the Spaniard repeated his 2023 success and took the fifth title of his remarkable 2025 season. He did so by overcoming an excellent Jiri Lehecka in the final with a score of 7-5, 6-7, 6-2, in a match made complicated by wind and weather conditions. Alcaraz handled the key moments with impressive maturity: after closing out the first set with a break in the 12th game, he lost the second on the tie-break (despite being two points away from the match) but then returned master of the court in the third, imposing himself with authority.

The victory at Queen’s represents the 21st career title for the Spaniard and the fifth of the season, who now boasts an open streak of 18 consecutive wins and 42 wins on the season, the best record on the circuit. With a record of 29 wins and 3 losses in his career on grass, Alcaraz looks like the man to beat at Wimbledon, where he will go after his third Slam of the season. Having already triumphed in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid and Roland Garros, the Iberian confirms a simply stellar state of form.

If Alcaraz represents the continuity and power of the present, Alexander Bublik embodies the poetry of the unpredictable. The Kazakh has written a new page in his career. He triumphed in Halle for the second time, beating Daniil Medvedev in the final with a solid 6-3, 7-6(4). A victory worth much more than a trophy. Bublik, who after Wimbledon 2024 had seriously considered quitting tennis for lack of motivation, shined again. And he did so in the tournament that most resembles him: fast, elegant, free.

His path in Germany was sensational. After eliminating Alexandre Muller, he defeated world number one Jannik Sinner in the round of 16. In the final, he handled the key moments at his best against Medvedev, showing concentration, variety and coolness. With this success, Bublik becomes the fourth player to win twice in Halle after Federer, Kafelnikov and Haas. It is the fifth career title for him, the second at the ATP 500 level, and perhaps the most emotional: “After Wimbledon I thought I would give up everything. Now I live the best moment of my career.”
