Napoli does not want to stop. After thrilling fans with the purchase of Kevin De Bruyne, the Parthenopean club is now aiming for another absolute coup: Darwin Nunez. Liverpool’s Uruguayan striker is in Napoli’s sights and, according to the latest rumors, his transfer seems to be more than just a market hypothesis.

Giving weight to the rumors was Walter Gargano, a former Napoli midfielder and compatriot of Nunez. Speaking to the microphones of RadioGoal, Gargano said he spoke directly with the striker, reporting his words, “He told me he is coming to Napoli, he is just waiting to close. He wants to come right away and has already started to discuss it with his family, as De Bruyne did.” A statement that immediately inflamed the Neapolitan environment, turning suggestions into a concrete possibility.

Liverpool, for its part, seems open to a transfer. The Reds have reportedly already identified Hugo Ekitike as a potential replacement and would be ready to let Nunez leave should the player decide to accept the Neapolitan offer. Manchester United and Chelsea remain vigilant about the French striker, which is why Liverpool may want to close the deal quickly.

The negotiations between Napoli and Liverpool are still in the early stages, but there will be direct contact between the two clubs today to discuss economic details. The go-ahead from Nunez has already arrived: now the ball is in the clubs’ court, who will have to agree on figures and payment terms.
