Jacques Villeneuve, Ferrari in crosshairs: "They don’t learn from mistakes"

Ferrari continues to live the 2025 Formula 1 season in perennial chase, after ten rainbow rounds in which it has not picked up victories unlike rivals McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes. A first part of the championship decidedly underwhelming, despite winter hopes. And it was precisely this aspect that was heavily criticized by Jacques Villeneuve, according to whom Jacques Villeneuve said they were unable to set realistic expectations in Maranello. And this is not the first time this has happened.

“Imagining a year without victories for Ferrari is always difficult – noted Villeneuve speaking to ‘BetVictor’ -. The easiest and most logical thing would be to focus already on 2026, but some people fail to understand that they cannot afford it. For the stable itself and for all its fans in Italy, it is a luxury that cannot be afforded”.

“The problem is that Ferrari never learns from its mistakes, and often creates very high expectations that are then not met – was Villeneuve’s consideration -. In 2023 the same thing happened, they said the SF-23 would be the best single-seater ever and instead it was terrible. They always get it wrong in the same way, and I cannot understand why”.

Then a reflection on the team principal, Frederic Vasseur. “He is under pressure, and it is normal that he is. He is at Ferrari, and he has been there for three years. Usually at this point comes the dismissal. It also happens to drivers, Vettel, Alonso, Prost, Mansell were sent away. That is how it works there, either you reap extraordinary successes or the result is exactly the opposite” concluded Villeneuve.
