Inter, show of strength and first place in the round of the Club World Cup

Victory and first place in Group E for Inter Milan, which has qualified for the round of 16 of the Club World Cup, where it will face Brazil’s Fluminense, second in their grouping that ended 24 hours earlier.
At Lumen Field in Seattle, River Plate was beaten 2-0 by the Nerazzurri, who after a blocked first half did everything right in the second half, also marked by the expulsion of former Fiorentina player Martinez Quarta with the result still at 0-0.
The decisive goal of the 1-0 was scored at 71′ by Pio Esposito, who celebrated in the best way his first as a starter in the Nerazzurri, with a goal as a real striker, on an assist from Sucic.
Next to close the score in full recovery was Bastoni, who made it 2-0 with a left-footed shot from the edge that sealed River Plate’s elimination (overtaken in the standings by Monterrey, which won 4-0 over Japan’s Urawa). In full recovery, second caution and red for Montiel as well.
Also of note was the brawl ending: after the triple whistle, Marcos Acuña chased Denzel Dumfries (with whom there’were old grudges from the 2022 World Cup) to the entrance of the tunnel, where their respective teammates (as well as Cristian Chivu) intervened to bring the situation under control.
