Club World Cup 2025: Palmeiras-Botafogo, the likely lineups

The Club World Cup gets into full swing with the start of the knockout phase. On Saturday, June 28 at 6 p.m., the round of 16 schedule opens with an all-Brazilian challenge: Palmeiras vs. Botafogo, a high-intensity derby with a place among the tournament’s top eight at stake.
Palmeiras earned the top spot in Group A thanks to a convincing comeback over Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, left behind in the final standings.
Botafogo, on the other hand, finished second in their group, beaten by PSG but able to oust such a strong opponent as Atletico Madrid. Now, however, the path continues for only one of the two: whoever passes the round will face the winner of the challenge between Benfica and Chelsea in the quarters.
The likely lineups
Palmeiras (4-2-3-1): Weverton; Marcos Rocha, Gustavo Gomez, Bruno Fuchs, Piquerez; Rios, Lucas Evangelista; Paulinho, Mauricio, Estevao; Vitor Roque. Coach: Ferreira
Botafogo (4-3-3): John Victor; Vitinho, Jair Cunha, Barboza, Alex Telles; Allan, Marlon Freitas, Newton; Savarino, Igor Jesus, Artur.
Coach: Paiva
