Ferrari, Charles Leclerc half satisfied

Charles Leclerc commented to Sky Sports microphones on second place in qualifying at the Austrian Grand Prix. “The front row had been missing for a while – he admitted – there had been Monaco, which, however, is also an extremely special track. It was difficult to think of getting such a result on a more normal track. Instead we did it today, so from that point of view I am very happy. But for sure the gap is very big”.
“Lando did a great lap – added the Ferrari driver – and there is some of his in that gap, however in my opinion the gap between the two cars right now is three and a half, four tenths. We are pretty consistent on that gap, it’s the same on almost every track, whereas today I think the other teams had a little bit more inconsistency. We did a good job as a team, we worked a lot on the car and I’m happy with the work we did. Also we know that the Sunday car is usually better than the Saturday car”.
“Apart from Lando the gaps are all very close so definitely the bottom has done its job today and helped us to have this front row, on this the team has done a great job – explained Leclerc -. As I said before the weekend, I was pretty convinced that this was the right way. However, there is always the question mark until you put the car on the track. Everything went well, so I’m happy. However, the road is still long, we have to keep our heads down and keep working because the gap is still there”.
Closing on Sunday’s race: “I believe in it however the gap with McLaren is big. Our car is stronger in the race, but I don”t think by five tenths…however, we are there: we have to put them under pressure and push them to make mistakes”.
