F1, Gabriel Bortoleto conquers record and paid dinner

The GP d’Austria was dominated by McLarens but there were other interesting insights. Among the many, the first points in the F1 World Championship of the rookie Gabriel Bortoleto. The very young Brazilian of Sauber finished in eighth place, bringing home four points of enormous weight.
Beyond the great satisfaction of no longer being zero in the drivers’ standings (only Franco Colapinto still has no points), Gabriel Bortoleto became the youngest Brazilian to win at least one point in the F1 World Championship (20 years, eight months and 15 days). He beat Felipe Massa’s record from back in 2002, also in a Sauber (Sepang, sixth place).
The 2004 class is also the first Brazilian driver to score points after a full eight years of waiting (also Felipe Massa, season 2027). As if that were not enough, Gabriel Bortoleto received a special award from Fernando Alonso.
The Spaniard, who is also manager of the young Brazilian, stopped him from finishing seventh but, as reported by Marca, also promised to pay him a dinner for his excellent work in Austria. Gabriel Bortoleto’s F1 career started on an uphill climb but, on the Spielberg circuit, “home” of Red Bull, the promising rookie showed he has what it takes to not be a mere meteor. Now he will have to confirm himself, perhaps starting next weekend at Silverstone.
