When does Lorenzo Musetti play at Wimbledon: his record with Nikoloz Basilashvili

It’s a real baptism of fire that of Lorenzo Musetti, as far as the season on the 2025 grass is concerned: due to the injury suffered during the Roland Garros semifinal against Carlos Alcaraz and the subsequent recovery period, the Carrara-based tennis player has in fact not had the opportunity to play matches on the grass before the opening round at Wimbledon 2025, against Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili.
The two athletes will take the court on Tuesday, July 1, no earlier than 1:30 p.m. Italian time, 12:30 p.m. London time. Musetti, No. 7 in the world rankings, will be called upon to immediately regain his best form to try to pick up the season where he left off in Paris, that is, as a star player. His best result at Wimbledon was last year, when the 2002 class surrendered in the semifinals to Novak Djokovic.
On the other hand, Basilashvili started the season on grass without too many highlights, exiting in the second round of the Stuttgart tournament against James Duckworth and in the first round of the next tournament in Halle, where instead the current number 126 on the ATP rankings was defeated by Serbian Laslo Djere. At Wimbledon, however, he has already shined in qualifying, beating Pablo Llamas Ruiz, Wong Chak Lam Coleman and Juan Pablo Ficovich in a row.
Musetti and Basilashvili have faced each other twice on the major professional circuit, although these are rather dated matches, both dating back to 2022. The tally is one win for the Georgian, in the round of 16 of the Stuttgart tournament with a score of 7-5, 6-3, and one win for the Carrara native, who won 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 16 of the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000.
