Lorenzo Insigne dreams of a return to Serie A: two clubs on his trail

Lorenzo Insigne could soon return to Serie A. After terminating his contract with Toronto FC early, the former Napoli captain is officially released and ready to write a new chapter in his career. His MLS experience, which lasted three years and ended with a tally of 66 appearances, 15 goals and as many assists, ended one year ahead of the natural expiration of his contract set for 2026.
Insigne, who turned 34 last June, decided to end the Canadian interlude to find new stimulation and measure himself again with Italian soccer. “I still feel fit, I want to prove that I can be decisive,” he reportedly confided to those close to him. His desire to become a protagonist again seems to have already attracted the interest of two Serie A clubs: Parma and Fiorentina.
Parma is looking for experienced profiles to face the new season in the best way and sees in Insigne the ideal leader to give quality and personality to the attack. Fiorentina, for its part, is considering the possible inclusion of the Neapolitan outfielder as a thick reinforcement for its European ambitions.
The main obstacle remains the salary. In Toronto, Insigne was earning about 11 million euros net per season, figures that are unaffordable for Italian clubs today. However, it seems that for Insigne the priority is no longer the economic aspect: the lure of Serie A and the desire to get back into the game could convince him to accept a much lower salary.
