Max Verstappen and Red Bull seem at loggerheads with the not insignificant prospect of a farewell, but Christian Horner seems by no means willing to deprive himself of his star driver. He reiterated this in no uncertain terms on Friday at Silverstone, referring both to the relationship between the parties and to contractual constraints.

“This is all talk and speculation, in Red Bull we are quiet – Horner explained -The important thing is the relationship that there’s between driver Max Verstappen and the team that works around him. Moreover, even a contract makes that very clear. Max then is a very important component of the team”.

“Verstappen’s contract expires in 2028, and he has made it clear that his intention is to complete his Formula 1 career driving for Red Bull. On this point we are absolutely calm”, Horner wanted to reiterate.

In the mix, however, in addition to the hypothetical departure of Verstappen to Mercedes, there’s also that to take the reverse route is George Russell. On the point, Horner was sibylline: “The fact that a driver like him is still on the market is something big. There have been contacts with him, but he remains convinced that he will stay where he&#8217s even next year. He is definitely talking a lot because he wants to have clarity on his position”.
