When Mattia Bellucci plays at Wimbledon: background with Cameron Norrie
Mattia Bellucci is set to face a third-round match at a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career on the grass at Wimbledon. The 24-year-old from Busto Arsizio will face one of the home favorites, Britain’s Cameron Norrie.
Bellucci is currently world No. 73, Norrie is 61 but touched No. 8 in 2022, the year on the lawns of Church Road when he reached the semifinals, losing in five sets to Novak Djokovic.
Mattia in the first round beat British wild card Oliver Crawford in four sets and in the second he gave three sets to nil to Czech Jiri Lehecka, Norrie on the other hand got the better of, both times in four sets, first over Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut and then over U.S. Frances Tiafoe.
Between Bellucci and Norrie there is no previous record, the match will be the second on Friday, July 4, on court No. 1, whose program will begin at 2 p.m. Italian time with the women’s match between France’s Diane Parry and Britain’s Sonay Kartal.
