Charles Leclerc furious at Silverstone gets covered in insults

Charles Leclerc at Silverstone experiences a bitter new Saturday in his 2025 still rather bare of great satisfaction. After the high hopes ahead of qualifying for the British Grand Prix, Ferrari’s Monegasque had to settle for a disappointing sixth place the result of a decisive mistake at the last corner of the flying lap. And his reaction in the heat of the race was most severe towards himself.
The mistake can serenely be called a simple smear, as Leclerc’s delay to poleman Max Verstappen turned out to be just 229 thousandths. After, however, having been in several circumstances of the weekend among the fastest on the track, Leclerc did not forgive himself by assigning himself a long sequel of improper words in a Team Radio that the international director broadcast worldwide.
It must be said that the’last lap of the Silverstone qualifying session claimed several victims, as at the same spot on the English track Oscar Piastri (later second) and Lewis Hamilton (fifth on the’other Ferrari) also made mistakes decisive for their final time. Very harsh, however, the self-criticism of Leclerc, who in less than twenty seconds covered himself with insults with as many as nine words to censure out of a scant twenty total.
After having been among the absolute protagonists of free practice, Leclerc had finished in second position even only in Q2 being preceded only by the Ferrari of his partner Hamilton. This detail also surely affects his great frustration, which exploded on the radio as it has happened more than once before (the precedents of Baku in 2019 and Istanbul in 2020 are famous).
