Tour de France: first stage and yellow jersey for Philipsen

The debut stage of the Tour de France 2025 has ended. The awarding of the first yellow jersey went to Belgian cyclist Jasper Philipsen. The Belgian, who rides for the Alpecin-Deceuninck team, came first to the finish line after a heart-stopping sprint ahead of Bini Girmay
.
The first day at the Grande Boucle was characterized by the frantic pace set from the start by the men of Visma Lease a Bike and Tudor, but also by the strong gusts of wind that accompanied the riders along the entire 184.9km of the Lille – Lille loop.
Vingegaard and Pogacar raced with an open face. They remained in front of the leading group until the start of the final sprint and immediately putting pressure on their direct competitors in the general classification.
Not fully convincing were some riders on whom the spotlight was on such as Lenny Martinez, Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel.
Attended for the final sprint was also Jonathan Milan. However, the Italian remained in the second group and arrived at the finish line some 40 seconds behind.
Philipsen, after an up-and-down start to the season, immediately made it clear that in the sprints, the man to beat in this edition of the Tour will once again be him.
