Exhausted, with the qualification of Fluminense and Chelsea to the semifinals, the competitions of the upper part of the scoreboard as far as the knockout phase of the 2025 World Club Championship is concerned, we move on to the lower part, which involves exclusively European clubs. The first of the two matches scheduled for Saturday, July 5, is the 6 p.m. Italian time (12 p.m. local time in Atlanta) between PSG and Bayern Munich.

At the tail end of a stellar season, the reigning European champion team has so far managed to find the strength to make it to the quarterfinals of the rainbow competition. The only misstep, an irrelevant one, was the one with Botafogo (0-1) in the group stage. Coach Luis Enrique will not make too many calculations: the formation is the best possible, with Doué, Dembelé and Kvaratskhelia leading the offensive phase.

On the other hand, Bayern, which had started with a bombastic 10-0 win against semi-professionals Auckland City, had a similar path to that of the Parisians, with only one unimportant defeat in the round, (0-1 against Benfica). Vincent Kompany is asking for an extra effort from the defense, which in the 4-2 in the round of 16 against Flamengo was not perfect, relying instead in attack on Harry Kane’s scoring ability.
