The most difficult challenge for Ciara Mageean: "I have a tumor"

The world of athletics and middle distance running in particular has been shaken by dramatic news: through her official social profiles, the European champion at Rome 2024 in the 1,500, Ciara Mageean, announced that she has been diagnosed with cancer. The Irish champion has already started treatment and wanted to share her state of mind with her fans.
“To all those who have been part of my journey so far, I have some difficult news to share: I have been diagnosed with cancer– she wrote -It is very difficult to deal with such news, but I have already started treatment and am incredibly grateful to be surrounded by the love and support of my family and close friends”.
“Right now – added Mageean -, my goal is to heal, facing each day one at a time. I kindly ask you to respect my privacy and that of my loved ones as we face this journey together. Your understanding means more than I can express myself. Thank you for the love and strength you will give me. I am ready to face this challenge with the same determination that I have always brought to the track”.
Born March 12, 1992, Ciara Mageean represents the Republic of Ireland despite being born across the border in Ulster, Northern Ireland. In her career, after winning numerous medals at the international youth level, she has always won at the European Championships, in the 1,500 meters, bronze at Amsterdam 2016, silver at Munich 2022 and gold at Rome 2024.
