Carlos Alcaraz takes a risk with Andrey Rublev but flies to the quarterfinals

Carlos Alcaraz, already forced into a marathon opening set by Fabio Fognini, had to sweat out qualification to the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon tournament.
Andrey Rublev in fact won the first set against the world No. 2 who then came back and sealed the match with a score of 6(5)-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. The defending champion in the quarterfinals will take on Norrie, who overcame Jarry in five sets.
“Rublev is one of the most powerful players on the circuit, he attacks the ball with that forehand – commented Alcaraz warmly. Facing him is like going to the limit on every ball. I am satisfied with how I moved, I had to play smart tactically and it was a good match for me”.
“You always have to believe in yourself beyond the score. You have to be strong mentally, stay focused and believe you can play better. You have to continue and take advantage of the chances. The break in the second set turned the match around, I felt comfortable. Norrie? Making the quarters here is special, it will be difficult. I know him well, he is playing great”.
