Carlos Alcaraz returns to Wimbledon final: Fritz knocked out in four sets

For the third consecutive year, Carlos Alcaraz reaches the Wimbledon final.
The world and seeded number two beat Taylor Fritz, number 5 in the seeding and ATP ranking, in four sets with a final score of 6-4 5-7 6-3 7-6 after two hours and forty-nine minutes of play.
A rocket start for the defending champion who takes the serve away from the U.S. in the opening game’the opening game. It is the only break of the set, just enough for Alcaraz, flawless on serve, to close out the first partial (6-4).
The second set is more balanced with the serve being the dominant factor: in the’last game, however, Alcaraz runs into a few too many errors at the serve and Fritz doesn’t let himself be told twice, winning the partial and bringing the match back to a perfect tie.
Immediate was the Murcian’s reaction in the third set: break to zero in the third game and, after leaving crumbs on serve (conceding only one point in the entire set to the American), new break in the ninth game that put him back ahead by a set.
Fritz, however, did not give up and held his opponent remarkably well in the fourth set, making it all the way to the tie-break where he missed two set points at 6-4 before being reeled in by Alcaraz who closed 8-6.
Thanks to this success, the two-time Wimbledon winner earned himself access to the final act of the Championships where he will face the winner of the other semifinal between Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic.
