Novak Djokovic spoke at a press conference after the sharp loss to Jannik Sinner: “Honestly, I didn’t have a great feeling on the court. I don’t want to go into the details of my injury and start complaining about not being able to play my best. I want to congratulate Jannik for another great performance. That’s it. He’s in the final. He was too strong. I am disappointed that I didn”t move on the court the way I thought or the way I wanted to”.

“It has nothing to do with bad luck, but it is simply age, the wear and tear accumulated in my body. I get to the last rounds, I have reached the semifinals of every Slam, but I have to face Sinner and Alcaraz. These guys are young, strong and fit. I feel like I face those matches with half a tank of gas, and it is impossible to win such a match”.

“Sinner apologized for my discomfort today. He has nothing to apologize for. He played great and for the last year and a half he has been the best player in the world. He will have a chance to win his first title at Wimbledon and I wish him good luck. It will be his first final here and I am sure he will be super motivated. After the final in Paris, the anticipation for this match is incredible. It is clear that I am several levels above the others at the moment.”

Djokovic finally ventured a prediction: “I will give Carlos Alcaraz a slight advantage because of the two titles he has won here, the way he is playing and the confidence he has right now. But it’s a very slight advantage because Jannik is hitting the ball unbelievably well. I think it will be a very, very close match, similar to what we had in Paris”.
