Jannik Sinner gets off to a poor start against Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final. The Murcia tennis player won the first set 6-4, taking the lead in the highly anticipated match on the packed Central Court. In the first games the serves dominated, the first jolt was given by the Azure winning the break in the fifth game. The Murcia champion, however, reacts and steals Sinner&#8217s serve in the eighth game, rebalancing the score. In the tenth game came the’other break and overtake: the Spaniard closed 6-4 the first set.

Carlos Alcaraz won the last editions of the Wimbledon tournament, capturing the Grand Slam tournament in both 2023 and 2024 in the final against Novak Djokovic. There are no fewer than 12 previous matches between Jannik Sinner and the Murcia champion, who leads 8-4: the most recent was in the Roland Garros final when the Spaniard won in five sets after nullifying no less than three match points for the South Tyrolean.

Alcaraz has beaten Sinner on seven other occasions: twice more in the finals (Internazionali d’Italia 2025, ATP 500 Beijing 2024), three times in the semifinals (Roland Garros 2024, Masters 1000 Indian Wells 2024 and 2023), once in the quarterfinals (Us Open 2022) and once in the second round (Masters 1000 Paris 2021).

Sinner, on the other hand, defeated Alcaraz in the final at the ATP 250 Umag in 2022, in the semifinals at the Masters 1000 Miami 2023 and at the ATP 500 Beijing 2023, and in the round of 16 right at Wimbledon, in the only previous one on grass, in 2022. Then there’s the “unofficial” victory in the Arab Six Kings Slam tournament, won by the Blue in Riyadh in the final against the very arch-rival.
